kitekrazy1
Odd that they still haven't added this to be a stand alone app. You can create your own stuff with MSound Factory.
User 905133
Interesting--I ran MPluginManager yesterday just to see if I was up-to-date, but I looked quickly. Nothing jumped out to say, "Here's a new instrument you can download and install." For all I know maybe it was there yesterday. I know I didn't scroll down past Dream Machines. In fact, I didn't even notice that the scroll bar location was not at the bottom. In either case, I found it today now that I knew to look for it. Thanks for the heads up! It can run in the MSF-Player which is free, not sure why it would need to be totally standalone VST. You don't need the paid SE or Full MSF for it. I think that was the point that it can be purchased as a pack OR you get it with a much larger product.

It is rather unusual these days for a top tier virtual instrument like MSF not to be available in standalone form. MSF is supposed to be MeldaProduction's answer to KONTAKT and Sample Tank, and both of those have standalone installation as an option. Sometimes I don't want the extra overhead/distraction/complexity of starting up a host, I just want to play the thing. I'm trying to remember the name of that freeware ultra lightweight VST host player. Not Cantabile, this one is tiny.... edit: NanoHost Edited December 28, 2024 by Starship Krupa NanoHost

Just like Kontakt people ignore the programming part.

Starship Krupa
There's also Plugin Buddy by Modalics for desktop hosting, but I was thinking of the one where you rename the .exe file to the name of the .DLL you want to run "standalone." That's NanoHost, but it unfortunately doesn't do VST3. I figure running something as complex as Plugin Buddy or Cantabile, I might as well just run a DAW. I trust Cakewalk and Sonar's stability enough these days to use them in a live setting.

It also works by renaming the exe to the name of the VST3 you want to run standalone.

MSoundFactory, MComplete and even MFreeFX are all gifts that keep on giving. Like an inverse subscription, you pay for a perpetual license and continue to get new products. MFreeFX just recently got a delay plugin, which was long overdue.
