Looks like we are loosing another long time user.

Yes I just saw this via my subscription notifications. Very educational and once again Mike @Creative Sauce is being very honest about how he truly feels about Cakewalk. His insight about how the Cakewalk Development team is what is the saddest part of the story. Those guys have always been on our side, they are software wizards,  but they have had to work under the rule of cooperate idiots possibly since the Roland days. His comments about the very, very bad marketing of Cakewalk/Sonar for year and years is bang on.  Oh well not my problem anymore.

I tagged him but I now see he hasn't been on the forum for a long time.  That was about the time a lot of  people  gave up on Sonar all because of the marketing silence.

he also won a crowd of viewers as cakewalk/roland/gibson/bandlab never produced any of their own (john vere was the only other) - but if you check bandlab's youtube channel, they have a ton of stuff, regularly post new stuff, but nothing about sonar... /sadface

The new Sonar has come a long way but it lacks the “Gotta have it regardless of the cost and terms” factor.  The improvements are great in some cases but they are incremental to what CbB already does. The new engine is great but it merely allows you to go from a stupid number of tracks and VSTs to an absurd number.  But the visuals are coming along nicely. Lots of good work there.

But it’s not compelling over the other offerings given its current terms. I think that’s what he was leaving unsaid.

Actually if you look in the Tutorial sub forum here, there was a lot of people who made tutorials. But the Tutorial sub forum gets even less traffic than the Next Subforum. A google search for "How to use Cakewalk" reveals hundreds of videos but Mike rises to the top. All that will slowly fade into oblivion now.

All the Daw's I've been testing other than Ardour, have official Videos. Most are up to date. Many are available right from the Start Screens or in the Help menu. Next to Cubase, for me Cakewalk is one of the hardest Daw's to learn. The lack of official Videos and Promo is just another bad sign to me. People will take the path of least resistance. Such a shame.

As a side note, The current sale price must make all the pour slobs who paid the full price feel like fools. I'm glad I got it on sale but this price is even $24 cheaper. When will the abuse stop! Ouch!
