Help getting Roland DS88 transport controls to work in Sonar.

I am using midi in and out, not usb. I enabled transmit MMC and Transmit Midi Start/Stop clock and enabled the ports.  

On the DS88 I have it in DAW control mode with Sync Output enabled and set to slave.

Interface is scarlet 2i2 2nd gen.

Any tips or videos?  I've had it working in the past but can't remember the trick.
