8Dio Holiday Sale 60% off everything

To me it seems like 8dio have gone for really big bundles this year. Sure, they are selling them at low prices, but if you already have a couple of 8dio choirs, the incentive to fill up with two or three more, even at a good price, might not be immediately obvious. Well, at least not to me. You're basically paying for something you partially already have. Same with strings, brass, woodwinds, hybrid, cinematic, or whatever, mega bundles.

The only thing I’ve bought from 8dio recently is Clocks, lots of them, for $7. You can’t get that many clocks for such a low price even if you walk along the beach promenade of some tourist resort.

The individual things appear to also be on sale (half price for the ones I looked at), but (sorry for the grumpiness below):

Too bad it only applies to the Kontakt stuff. (which anything I want requires the full version, not just the player, adding at least $300 to the cost of the single one I would want (Cait) that is $15 right now (half the usual price), so it would cost at least $315 to get it (never happening here).

The Soundpaint versions, despite being the "same" things, are not on sale, and none of the 8dio discounts or codes apply.  So Cait would cost $30 (which I can't justify...I could skip enough household stuff to swing $15).

I couldn't swing the money for the whole solo bundle ($85 with the half off, if only it applied to the Soundpaint versions) but it includes Barbary and Francesca, which I could use in conjunction with Cait for some of the vocal work I would like in my projects.

Currently I have to slice up the pre-recorded vocals from various libraries I've gotten from BlackOctopus, Cymatics, Ghosthack, etc, to build mine from, for stuff like the ones below; it'd probably make better music (and be easier to do) with "playable" voices like the soundpaint Cait / etc.  Since it's just a hobby, and very few ever even listen to what I make, I can't justify spending much of anything on it, despite it's importance to my sanity to be able to do it.  :)

Excuse me? I paid $56 for Kontakt 7 Full Crossgrade less than 2 years ago. You pay full price only if you really want to.

Crossgrade to full kontakt can be done with free libraries AFAIK. Tha's what I did.

I'm super satisfied with my purchase, even with NI wanted to charge me 100 bucks to upgrade to k8 (nope, thank you very much!)

Kontakt player = less freedom.  You are tied into Native Access.  That's a discomfort  for more than one machine.

Wait till the summer to get that Konatkt discount.

Soundpaint libraries don't really go on sale but as much but you also get crossgrade pricing.

The major problem with Soundpaint is the file size.

Maybe you can see the benefit of buying vocal loops opposed to those tied to a rompler.

I never buy voice libraries tied to a rompler unless it is a choir.

I dunno, I've check their site a fair few times over the years whenever sounds I wanted came on super sales I could almost afford / justify but were only useful with the full version, and none of their crossgrade/upgrade options have had anything I own to qualify for. :(

But even the $56 is more than I can afford--if I spent that, I couldn't buy the stuff to use with it.

The loops / wave files are what I have used so far, but they are very tedious to cut and splice bits of pre-performed vocals into something resembling what I want, and retuning just specific bits of them for the performance I want doesn't leave them sounding the same (often quite artificial, even bad, because some have to be retuned a long way from where they started...same thing for stretching or squishing them in time).  Some of it can be hidden in the mix, most of it can't, especially for parts where I want the voice to stand out almost completely on it's own and want it to sound as natural as possible.

I have a *few* useful playable voices (a couple in Decentsampler, a couple in the LABS program), but there aren't enough things in them to express most of what I want to do.  (you can hear some of what I did with those in https://amberwolf.bandcamp.com/track/the-moon-it-read-to-me-and-it-was-bright )

That's why I wanted to get some of the playable voices, so I can come a lot closer to the sound I am after in each different project.  If I could afford it I'd get all four of the Forgotten Voices in Soundpaint format.  I really wish Studio Vocals Laurie came in SP, but it's only in K so far--between these five I would be able to do at least half of the kind of vocal bits I would like in my music.

If I was making money off the music (or was rich) I'd just buy all the vocal things and whatever was needed to use them...but neither of those is ever going to happen. ;)

My problem with 8Dio libraries is that id really love the NKS integration that is present in those libraries that NI sells, but cant justify the difference in price when bought directly from 8Dio so neither of them is getting my money, unless until i make up my mind… and im not known for making up my mind😛
