Greg McGuirk Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 I'm considering purchasing a Roli Seaboard 2. I'm intrigued by MPE, but haven't really done any research on it. Is Sonar able to handle the kind of data it puts out? Is it just a ton of pitch, CC & aftertouch data or is there other info? Thanks in advance for sharing any insights or experience with it. greg

You need a good quality MIDI interface with a good size MIDI buffer size. What MIDI I/F are you using?

That actually makes a lot of sense as I think about it. I'm using the midi ports from my RME RayDat card. I also have a motu micro express. I would think either of them can handle a lot of data like that. 1

Do you have a reasonably powerful PC?

It was a beast when I bought it, but it's a few years old now (& still going strong! Gotta love Studio Cat machines!) i7-6850K CPU @ 3.60GHz w/ 64 GB RAM. 1
Greg McGuirk Posted September 19 Author Posted September 19 Bumping an old thread for an update... I've got the Seaboard now (love it!) and Sonar handles everything fine.... except it doesn't record Release Velocity. So that makes the "Lift" function on the Seaboard useless. According to Co-Pilot, several competitors support it, including Cubase, Studio One & Reaper. I'll make a feature request. If anyone reads this that has or will have a Seaboard, please do the same! greg 3
