We got a lot of spam here

that was a screenshot not a quote 🙄

It reproduced the information as good as a quote if you can't see you are in effect doing the spammers job by making what gets hidden visible again, then we can only conclude you are in fact the originator of the spam. Consequently you will be dealt with as a spammer.

Unless you report it mods don't know about it, we don't spend all day, unlike yourself,  in these forums looking for spam. We have lives and music to make.

To me reporting spam is another way to contribute to the community.

i've reported spam many many times over the years, but it's never made a difference 🤷‍♀️

That's odd.  I have always found someone has deleted the spam I reported and has removed the offenders' accounts.  Some times it even gets deleted before I am done reporting an account's spam.

How do you report it?

On each message there are three dots in the upper right corner (unless you are zoomed in too much).  Click on that; select Report; choose Spam if you are sure its spam.

For languages I don't understand, I used Google's Translate feature with the Detect Language setting.

i guess my point is that they who control the forum would put in place technology that prevents the spam getting through in the first place, not just some unpaid mod hiding them

You might remember some discussions where at least one of the moderators and/or staff talked about fine tuning spam detection features/options.  My takeaway was there there is indeed spam detection but that some spam managed to get through and tweaks were then made in such a way as to not impede legitimate posts.

Sorry, but I have too much to do today to look up those posts, but I do remember them.

PS: BTW I am no so sure it is a good idea to advertise the spam detection algorithm.

fair enough, but "fine tuning spam detection" lol is bullshit, and for an online company to not be able (or unwilling to bother) to prevent/block spam is a big red flag - imagine using the bandlab social media functionality, what data is being lost there? this is the only forum/website i see this amount of spam, and websites are my work for the last 25 plus years, it's really sad to me (not including the almost as long time i've used cakewalk/sonar products) weep weep etc

I'm not sure what you're talking about whether it's bandlab or the forum. I don't use bandlab except to access cakewalk, but I've been an on again off again cakewalk forum user since SONAR 4. I don't recall a spam problem ever.

I've been inactive for the last couple of years but I still subscribe to and read the forum emails. That's how saw your rant.

I also never thought of this forum as being anything other than a way for users to support each other. I dont think of the forum as being part of a "online company" or having "social media functionality." I think of it as a support tool provided, maintained and managed (with the help of volunteer modirators) by cakewalk for cakewalk users.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope not.

You have to be here late night/early morning when the spammers strike.
They're usually nuked quickly once reported.

why do they even get through in the first place? that's my beef... no matter how many times i report spam, nothing has been done to prevent it

So is anything happening to stop the spam?

@Wookiee

Do you know?

As has been explained to you before, pwallie, or whatever you are calling your self this nano second, everytime we get a fresh batch of spam, we get those who can, to add keywords to the spam filter.

The mods do deal with it when we see it or when we see reports, which is the absolute best way to deal with it. Why because if it gets flagged three times it automatically gets hidden.

Consequently rather than making posts like this if you think a post is obviously spam report it, very simple really.

Surprisingly though not all the mods, even though they are on most continents, from Australia westwards to the US, on earth, plus geostationary orbit, we all have lives. Consequently we don't spend every minute of our lives, unlike some apparently, in these forums.

It is also the Spam season when the numpties of the world want to see how many suckere's there are out there, and there are a lot.
