Reactivation is a drag.

Hello All, I try to keep my old laptop offline, and have no other. In the middle of a project, I ran into a problem. I am experiencing static type noise in an SI bass track. Frustrated, I went online and updated CbB in hopes of fixing the issue. 2 hours later I am finally up and running again, but still the issue is present. I am running a 2016 asus vivomax with I5 cpu and an internal ssd, a Scarlett 3rd gen interface. I tried relocating the project and checked the usual suspects like overloaded plug ins and such. It seems worse when the kirchhoff eq in the track is active, if any one has a clue, I would appreciate the tip.

The thing is though that I dislike how every time I update, I must reactivate. It is rarely as easy or quick as it should be.

         Thanks From The unacknowledged guide.

I am using a PC as per my signature and I do not have this issue with SI bass (or any synth vsti).

I am assuming you are using the latest Focusrite ASIO drivers?

What buffer size and sample rate are you using?

What else have you tried?

Hi Promidi,

The buffer sizes were the first thing I tried. I use 256 for recording when the project is still light. I switch to 512 for mixing when plug ins are added,  and when it gets real heavy, I double that which is as high as the Scarlett will allow.

The problem was very persistent at the moment of posting, but has since proved to be intermittent, leading me to believe a windows background function was the culprit. I  went through the steps of eliminating all that I could, and it seems like it is resolved for the moment. I believe I forgot to turn windows defender back off when I was online last before problem.

It was so annoying. I even copied the midi to a new fresh project, bounced to audio which was niceand clean there, and imported into the older project, and still had an intermittent crackle. It also crackled when Kirchhoff was set to duck the kick. Like you could hear the compressor working.

Anyway, it would appear to be solved for the moment.

Thanks for assisting.
