I don't remember seeing it st less than 25% but like @hsmusic mentioned, you can get it cheaper from everyPlugin. You basically figure out what you want to add the WUP to in your Waves account, then choose the "Buying from a local Dealer" link and it will give you a code.

Send it to everyPlugin and they'll give you a quote. If you like it, they'll send you a PayPal link where you put in the code. I don't know when they sleep because they seem to reply pretty quickly anytime of the day or night.

It's pretty quick and always a bit cheaper.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and information.
As tempted as I am to jump on this I'm going to hold off till BF or later if they don't have a 25% off or similar sale going on.
Since I'm too slammed at the moment to complete any of my projects, let alone start new ones, it doesn't make sense to buy in now and let my WUP start counting down.

I don't think anyone should have to pay for updates.  The only thing I think could be charged for is a small upgrade fee for major new features.  Updates that has had bugs should be covered for a lifetime.

I don't remember them reducing the WUP price during BF, I think they'd want to "capture" some renewals for plugins purchased during the previous year's BF, but the 25% off comes up a couple of times a year anyway.

@GTsongwriter You get 1 year of WUP for free when you register a plugin or a bundle. "Real bugs" are rare and generally ironed out by the time that 1y expires. I pay for WUP renewals when I want the new plugins that have been added to the bundles I have. Another reason for getting WUP would be for versions that add support for newer OS or chipsets (this mostly impacts Apple users, I use Windows and I cannot remember when it was the last time that older versions of Waves didn't run on newer Windows) or updates related to hardware evolution, like high-dpi

I am not a WUP "addict" that renews every time it expires, but I was very annoyed when it was temporarily discontinued in early 2023. It does have its usefulness.

(I wrote this last night and never posted - it echoes a lot of what @Eusebio Rufian-Zilbermann just posted in different words hahaha)

I used to feel that way, too. But after a computer upgrade recently, I tried to reinstall plugins I was using in the past to open up my projects and many don`t work on newer systems. So many of the hundreds of projects I have worked on are no longer fully functional. Those developers didn`t charge for updates, instead most of them released a version 2 (or 3, 4, 5 whatever) and the old ones are no longer supported or updated.

There is some value to me in knowing that the plugins in a very old project will open seamlessly going forward. If it costs every few years to get them back up to date, I'm ok with that. I know a lot of people aren't that fond of WUP but I'm one of the few who actually don't mind it.

Of course, it can depend on the situation and the types of projects people work on.

Most of the Wave stuff from v9 still works in a Windows OS    Waves are some of the best developed plugins and the Renn stuff is still the best.  I guess WUP is their solution to generate revenue despite most of their stuff was built to last.
