Random Metering In The Media Browser

I'm listening to some old acidized files that came with some Zero-G libraries that I purchased a long time ago. I can hear all the files as I click through them, but only random files will trigger the metering on the Master and Preview busses. It's consistent which ones will trigger, or not trigger, the metering if I go back to them. This one has me stumped.

If I check the same regular wav files that aren't acidized, they trigger the metering consistently. The meters work once the file is dragged into the arrangement. Just curious why it's not triggering the meters.
