Waves New Plugin $39

Exactly, it really isn't an issue, certainly not the issue people seem to tend to think it is :)

I've WUP'd more than you have, but I've only WUP'd twice in the last 10 years or so, and both times the payback in very useful plugins added to Mercury has made it more than worth it, it felt like I was ripping them off.

Its just not an issue.

It's an issue, just not for you maybe.

For anyone that has a desktop as their primary DAW and a laptop as a mobile rig, without active WUP they can't have an activation on both. They need to either transfer licences every single time they use the other device, or resort to a USB dongle.

Of course Mac updates also frequently break software and you can't update to the latest version without active WUP either, but most people are aware of that one.

Whether it's an issue for you, or not, doesn't change the fact that's it's just trashy corporate greed and they're one of the few plugin companies holding on to such outdated and custom unfriendly licensing models.

I think they did a great job on this one. Not the same as Soothe but for my purposes replaces it. Lightweight, easy to set up w/good results.. hope the other modules tbr are just as useful.

A voice among the herd of fanboys.  People forgot about those Mac users.

Some of the best plugins on the planet complimented with the worst licensing.   So they create the race down to zero market.

Imagine if they were like IK, Melda, Kilohearts licensing but charged $99 a plugin?  I guess they are afraid to take that risk and the sub only risk failed.  They do get the new user with their race down to zero who starts down the road of plugin hoarding.

A lot of their older stuff is still top notch.
