scott brady
SOLVED Hi there, I installed Bass Fingers plugin & it works fine for that session, but every time I restart Cakewalk a warning message comes up saying the VST is missing & I have to reset the VST folder, which is annoying as I lose all the settings I made in the previous session ---- VST Plug-in Error A Plug-in was requested that appears to be unavailable. Perhaps you uninstalled it? The missing plug-in appears to be Bass Fingers Stereo We Recommend that if you removed the plug-in from your VST plug-ins folder, replace it and scan VST plugins again. ---- Waves support said to reset the VST folder (which works for 1 session). They also said to disable anti virus & see if that works (it didnt) anybody had something similar happen? im going round in circles trying to figure it out, all my other installed plugins work fine https://www.waves.com/plugins/bass-fingers Edited September 25 by scott brady
Max Arwood
I can’t think of but one thing. If you create a song with a plugin, then you update the plugin software. Sometimes programmers will use a different name. All plugins have registered names. Not like the ones we see, but like My bassfingers VST ID: 1296453715 if the programmers change this number cakewalk won’t know that that’s the same Plugin. Sometimes they do it on purpose for different reasons. Sometimes I just think it’s just an accident. NOT-Lol ! Sometimes it’s a simple as rebooting your computer and restarting sonar or Cakewalk to correct things
scott brady
Thanks for the reply Max yup the problem is Cakewalk is losing the link with that 1 plugin when I restart, so every session I need to reset the VST folder to re-connect them. a reset makes the connection again, but after a restart it is lost again very annoying Edited September 24 by scott brady
Max Arwood
This might be a file thing. I would try Chkdsk first. If that does not work, my next suggestion would be a fresh install. let us know if either of these work.
scott brady
its a brand new laptop, only a couple of months old, only thing I use it for is Cakewalk so it basically is a fresh install
Xoo
Are you running Cakewalk as admin by any chance?
Craig Anderton
Waves tech support is really good. Also check their website for FAQs. Just doing a repair install from Waves Central may be enough. Good luck!

Craig, yup I cant fault Waves tech, I've had emails back & forth with them trying to figure out this problem but everything they suggest hasnt worked. they then wanted me to install a program to remotely access my computer but I declined that offer. Ive been though all the settings on Waves Central [again] (Repair, Cleanup, Clear, Diagnose system) and I dont know which one helped but it seems to be fixed YAHHH! thats been a week of trying different things & I dont know exactly which setting fixed it but its now working thanks everybody that commented

FWIW - Waves once did the remote desktop thing when I had a problem many years ago. They fixed the problem, which was deep down in the operating system. However, that also ended up fixing several other non-Waves problems. So, I was glad I let them poke around. Waves uses an unusual installation system for the plugins called a Waveshell. It has advantages and disadvantages. The FAQs on the site are very helpful when you have issues. In your case, I'd almost be willing to bet the Repair function solved your issue. Glad you got it sorted out!
