SOLVED: Import Audio File Pushes All Other Tracks Forward

I am importing a few audio files into a project. And have inserted the requisite number of audio tracks. And I have successfully imported three audio files.

However when I try to import a fourth audio file the file is imported but all of the other tracks in the project have been 'slid' forward for the full length of the newly imported file. I havent changed anything since importing the three previous files. 

If I move or delete an already imported audio file the same thing happens when I try to import an audio file into the vacated track.

Any ideas?

Sorted - somehow I had clicked on the ripple edit button.
