Sweet Heart Baby

Here's a new one that I've been monkeying with for a while and I think it's ready for your input. I had a third verse written but I didn't want a five minute song, so two and some noodling about is what we get here. Thanks in advance for your input!

Update: Mix 2 has been posted. Tried to clean up the vocals a bit but I may have diminished them somewhat. I added a 2db high shelf starting at 6k. I also bumped the gain on a couple of guitar parts that were inexplicably missing.  Please give this new mix a listen and let me know if I'm getting there with it.  Thank you!

Update:

I still feel like the track is pretty bass heavy and muddy here and there. I would love to have some advice on how to achieve a bit more clarity with the bassline and while keeping the heft the track has without bringing in all the mud that seems to come with it.

sweet heart baby
k walsh 9/10/2024

she came to me with eyes on fire
and sunshine in her hair
she said c'mon baby it's cool in here
And you ain't going nowhere
i couldn't find the words to tell her
what she meant to me
it's like she saw inside my head and
just like that she set me free

na na na na na-na na na
oh that's the way

i saw inside her house of tricks
i felt her weave her spell
i knew just how this story goes
i new the ending well
she lit me up she turned me out
felt things i could not hide
she took a part my heart of stone
a diamond was inside

you're so cool
sweetheart baby
you're so cruel
sweetheart baby

such a simple thing to try
out of a the corner of my eye
ooh you got a thing

just a look and i was gone
oh you got a thing going on

na na na na na-na na na
oh that's the way

na na na na na-na na na
oh that's the way

na na na na na-na na na
na na na na na-na na na

you gotta groove sweet heart baby
your so cruel sweet heart baby
your so smooth sweet heart baby
your so cool sweet heart baby yeah

Thanks Alper Karamahmutoglu for listening and for your feedback! Alas, my hearing impairment makes it hard to hear such things. I heavily depend on presets and machine learning tools like izotope's ozone to fill the gaps but it can be hit or miss. I will drop 6k+ by a a couple of db's and post a new mix. Thanks for lending me your ears!

This is a great track - hooked me from the very first chord - you did a stellar job on this.

Quit 'monkeying around' with it and put it on the done pile.

Thumbs up  for the lyrics too - I do like a well-crafted lyric.

Great stuff. 👍

Hey, thanks Andy! It's nice to hear you think it's done. I hear so much wrong with it it's hard to listen to and I want to keep tweaking it.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and to comment.

Classic guitar rock song, well crafted!  I followed the lyrics- thanks for posting.   "cool" and "cruel" makes the point of the song very well.   Clever word rhyme. Pro guitar chops and solo work.

Thanks! I used  two Valhalla DSP plugins for reverb and delay. Vintage Verb and Ultramassive delay. If you use them, be careful, they are mighty weapons. :) Thanks for listening and for posting your comments!

  • 2 weeks later...

Being late to the party, nuffink new there, I assume I am listening to the latest/last mix.

No real complaints, like so many rock songs the vocal gets a little lost in places but that seems to be the norm.

MIx translates here quite well nothing seems missing in the mix.
