FWIW I picked this up a few years ago and it really is a very helpful tool to get you started with a mix.  It's easy to use and 33% of the time it will give you very good results, 33% of the time it will get you close enough that with a little tweaking you'll have a solid mix, and about 33% of the time it will give you something that might be best described as "interesting".
