Audio Drop Outs and Junk Audio

I am experiencing audio drop outs when playing back my mixes. It is never the same track. The midi instrument might drop for a couple seconds while later in the song it could be vocals or bass etc... There is also an issue with the audio sounding awful. It is hard to describe. Just sounds like junk. 

I have exported/imported the wav files into Ableton and everything sounds beautiful and no drops. I want to continue to learn and use Cakewalk but may need to switch if I can't figure out what is going on.

12th Gen Intel i7-12700KF 3.6 GHz
32 GB RAM
Focusrite 2i2 4th Gen

first check - any things you're using - FX, VI etc that are "demo" products? very often if they're in demo mode the author does random (or timed) dropouts so you can "test" before buying. or you forgot to authorize  / activate. sometimes these also get reset during updates so anything you updated - check the license / activation status.

I don't have any plugins working right now. I tried just importing stems from another project file with a blank template and still having the same issue.

Check to see if all of your sample and bit rates are matching (in CbB, audio interface and Windows) with that of the imported material.
