Why could my CW be crashing so much?

Lucy

Question

The software crashes every five minutes after I get past six tracks…what could be making this happen, and what should I do?  My computer is a second- hand windows Lenovo ThinkPad. I don’t really use it for anything other than music but I do have some music files on there plus Sonar & Ableton Live Lite.

things to check - OS is up to date? CW is up to date? drivers for audio etc are all up to date? you took time to read up on some optimization steps (google it) to get more power from the older machine? you turn off network while using DAW? you only run one DAW at a time? using WASPI and you have disabled all the Realtek audio stuff via device manager (disable not delete or it will reinstall itself).

You should also send a crash dump file to Support@cakewalk.com

I went to %AppData%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Minidumps but they aren’t being recorded there 🤷🏻‍♀️
