Noah
Recently I purchased WIDI wireless MIDI. My set up, Laptop running Windows 10 running Cakewalk by Bandlab latest version. I am playing MIDI files into Roland Fantom XR WIDI wireless MIDI causes timing errors, stuck notes and wrong pitch bend executions. When I contacted WIDI tech support, they told me to change the MIDI device driver from MME to UWP. When I do that, many of tracks are playing wrong instruments particularly on Channel 4 and 5 but also on other channels. I have installed all the INS files for the Fantom XR instrument sets. Although I have MOTU 896MK3 Hybrid for audio recording, for performance, I use strictly MIDI 16 tracks to trigger/play the sounds from Fantom XR What is going on? Any ideas? msmcleod
When you change driver mode from MME to UWP, the device names and their ordering may change - some older MIDI devices that don't support UWP may not appear at all. You need to ensure the order of your devices in UWP mode matches what they were in MME mode. To do this: 1. Switch back to MME 2. Go to the MIDI->Devices tab in preferences, and take a note of the order of your MIDI Output devices - only the ones that are checked matter. 3. Switch to UWP 4. Go to the MIDI->Devices tab in preferences, and set the order of your MIDI Output devices to match what you had in UWP. Start by having them all unchecked, then check the first one - click "Move Checked Output Devices to Top", then check the second one and click "Move Checked Output Devices to Top", and so on.
Promidi
Personally, I would ditch the wireless MIDI and just stuck to wired (USB preferably)
Kurre
A usb cable reaches a longer way than Bluetooth. If you trip on the cable buy a longer cable and put it up high over your head. I use 10 meter usb cables without any problem. Bluetooth is also sensitive when it comes to objects blocking the signal. If you place your body between two Bluetooth dongles it's going to affect the signal between them in certain positions. Glenn Stanton
bluetooth also (as a network protocol) will increase the number of system interupts vs hardwired (which being USB will use interupts as well, just not nearly as many). it's one of the reasons to turn off wireless communications when working - esp with low latency modes.
