Classic VCA BUS compressor with modern features

HoRNet H4K Bus Compressor: Capture the Legendary ‘Big Console Sound’

  • Experience the legendary ‘big console sound’ that has defined countless hit records with the HoRNet H4K bus compressor. This powerful plugin emulates the classic VCA circuitry, enhancing your mix with cohesion, power, and clarity.

Glue at Your Fingertips

  • The HoRNet H4K bus compressor brings the iconic “glue effect” directly into your favorite DAW. By utilizing the same principles as the classic hardware, this plugin helps you achieve that coveted, solid sound in a digital environment.

Modern Features with Classic Controls

  • The HoRNet H4K bus compressor features traditional multi-position switches for RATIO, ATTACK, and RELEASE, alongside continuously variable potentiometers for THRESHOLD and MAKE-UP. Additionally, it offers modern parameters such as fine input/output trim control, Auto Trim, Auto Gain Reduction, Auto Attack/Release calculations, oversampling, and a dry/wet ratio. This blend of classic and modern controls allows you to achieve the best sound for your mixes effortlessly.

Control and Functionality

  • One of the standout features of the HoRNet H4K bus compressor is its ability to bypass the compressor while keeping the analog amplifier emulation active. This enables you to use the plugin as an analog saturation tool. The automatic gain compensation feature ensures smooth management of volume changes caused by gain reduction, providing consistent output levels without manual adjustments.

Precision Control

  • The HoRNet H4K bus compressor allows precise shaping of your signal path by individually controlling the pre and post-emulation gain levels. These can be automatically adjusted (Auto Trim) or linked together (Link I/O) to maintain consistent input and output levels.

Dynamic Reaction to Your Music

  • The HoRNet H4K bus compressor offers six attack rates (0.1; 0.3; 1; 3; 10; 30 ms) and selectable release times (0.1; 0.3; 0.6; 1.2 seconds, and AUTO). The AUTO setting dynamically adjusts the release time in real-time according to the incoming audio characteristics. This ensures effective, natural-sounding compression without manual adjustments.

Pristine Audio Quality

  • To guarantee the best audio quality, the HoRNet H4K bus compressor includes variable oversampling options ranging from 2x to 8x with automatic settings. This reduces artifacts like aliasing, automatically selecting the optimal oversampling amount based on your session’s sample rate.

Preset Management and Factory Presets

  • The HoRNet H4K bus compressor includes convenient load and save buttons for managing presets, making it easy to recall favorite settings or experiment with new ones.

The Ultimate Tool for Professional Audio Production

  • The HoRNet H4K bus compressor plugin is essential for achieving the iconic ‘big console’ sound and adding a unique sonic solidity to your projects. Whether working on music, film scores, or broadcast audio, the HoRNet H4K will become an indispensable part of your workflow.

This would be cool if I knew or understood it's usage.

Does this go on the master bus or is this a bus for vocals or instruments or ?

What's it commonly used for?

Currently I use Waves SSL G-Master Bus for stereo glue on the Master Bus.

You can use it on whatever you like, so it's fine on sub groups, but like most 4K which is what you already have I believe, it is more commonly used these days for the stereo/master buss.

Does it have 4k resolution?

It was a joke.

I did assume it likely was, but I also thought it might be useful for anyone else that stumbles across it to see where the actual 4K compressors originated in case you weren't joking, so erred on that side instead :)

I wonder what's the difference between the Console 4k in HoRNet Multicomp Plus MK2 and in HoRNet H4K Bus Compressor other than the price difference?

I own the HoRNet Multicomp Plus MK2 version.

Hi the console 4K in the Multicomp Plus MK2 is the channel compressor of that "not to be named" console. While this new plugin is an emulation of the bus compressor. To be more specific. it's a emulation of an XLogic bus compressor, like this one:

I'll demo this Wednesday or Thursday against my Waves SSL G-Master Buss Compressor plugin.

If it works just as good or better, it'll be another Waves plugin I'll be glad to get rid of!

I'm planning on putting all these new models in a new Multicomp Plus MK3 version but I don't know when it'll be released just to keep you informed.
