THG
Have been working on a big project for a good two years or so. Always save it and it has opened fine every time. But just today I went in to open it and received the following message: unable to open file due to the project being "truncated". This is the first time I've ever received this message. Had to tell the clients to go back home as we couldn't get access to the file and that I'd need to figure it out. Lots of hard work that might be lost forever. Can anyone help me with this extremely frustrating situation?
Promidi
Did you have versioning enabled? Have a look where the project was saved and see if there are files with a ~ in the extension. File will have something like “cwp.~2024-05-02-23-17-31-145” at the end. Also, for this to happen, your disk where the project is stored might be on its way out. Just to be sure, you might want to check your disks for any errors. Use the Windows System Event Viewer to check this Start + Run > eventvwr.msc You can also check your disks overall health with CrystalDiskinfo.
John Vere
No backup, no sympathy. Sorry for being blunt. But it true. It was first thing came to mind. Especially with clients and the end of the session back it up and best to back it up twice. I learned that modern digital drives can fail. Don’t trust them.
