Can't Save Preferences Settings

Brand new to the software and forum so apologies for what's probably a dumb question. Fooling around with making a simple recording and was having latency issues so I went into Preferences and tried to move the buffer size to the fastest setting. Easy enough. Then when I close out of Preferences and go back in it has the old value. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
What Driver Mode are you using? WASAPI Shared or WASAPI Exclusive are probably the best for an off-the-shelf computer sound card.
For best results, an audio interface with real ASIO drivers is preferred.
WASAPI is a fairly new driver from Microsoft and should provide okay performance for basic recording.

Thanks. Looks like WASAPI Exclusive. Although i just opened it up again and now it's saved. Really odd. I had shut down the audio interface. Maybe that had something to do with it?

Whenever making a change to preferences, click the apply button... prefs window will disappear & reappear, then click on close. At least in my experience.

That's just it - I was looking for an apply button and couldn't find it.

Second button from the right at the bottom of the preference dialogue box.

On a PC that meets minimum specifications for Cakewalk/Sonar,  you can’t miss it.

What is your screen resolution..?

As Promidi mentioned, if the screen resolution isn't within specs, those buttons will be offscreen at the bottom, and the top will be at its maximum height, and you can't drag it higher to show those controls.
