artturner Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Paying in GBP and using loyalty points at Time+Space brought this down to around $70 (with PayPal's less than generous conversion rate).

I almost always pay in original currency when using PayPal, passing the conversion rate to my credit card company (which is slightly cheaper). Different companies have different rates though, so YMMV. Edited September 26, 2019 by antler
Matthew Sorrels Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Paypal has recently changed their foreign transaction fee structure. https://www.ecommercebytes.com/2019/08/02/paypal-charges-more-by-raising-currency-conversion-spread/ Credit card companies can also tack on fees if you choose to use them through Paypal for the conversion. Some combinations may work out better than others but it's very hard to tell exactly what/how in advance. 1
antler Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Both Mastercard and Visa have an online currency conversion tool that also accounts for a x% transaction fee. I often use these and compare the price to the cost of conversion by PayPal; I can't remember a time when I saw PayPal to be cheaper.
