Can't launch softsynth from instrument track?

I'm encountering an issue where if I send an instrument track to a surround bus, I lose the little keyboard icon next to the track name that brings up the assigned synth's interface. If I send it to a stereo bus, no problem. But assign it to a surround bus and the little icon is replaced by a numerical value for LFE send. Maximizing the track doesn't help. Changing the width of the panel doesn't help.  And I haven't been able to find an alternate method of bringing up the plugin's interface (is there a keyboard shortcut?).

So far the only workarounds I've found are either temporarily setting my project to 5.0 to eliminate the LFE, or by creating a stereo bus for each instrument track to act as a buffer, and then doing panning on the bus instead of the track itself.

Is this a bug or am I just missing something simple?

You can assign a shortcut key to that operation.

If you want, you can check the "view" menu and choose Synth Rack View. Now you have all the VSTI shown there.
