Question

I have one track with music and I want to record a separate track with voice over.  How to I setup the channels in Cakewalk so that I can hear the music track and record only the voice over?

It sounds like you are using your on board audio and connecting the Mackie to the little input jack of your computer?
Please confirm this for further information.

You can also watch my videos for easy to follow overview of setting up Cakewalk to record. But if you are connected as I’m guessing you will need instructions not detailed in my videos because I always recommend you use a proper interface if you are recording audio . But in a pinch it will work

I am using the USB port on the Mackie.  So I think the issue is trying to figure out how to route the audio so that I can monitor through headphones the music/backing track coming from the computer and the voice over/vocal from line 1 on the Mackie while recording only line 1 from the Mackie.

I think the trick is using one of the subs to route the audio to a sub-out where I can connect to some headphones (to keep the monitor audio isolated) and route the mic line to both the sub (for monitoring) and the main (for recording).

I was going to say that Mackie is well known for writing good owner manuals. Your answer will be found there.

Sorry for my original answer as I didn’t realize your mixer was actually the USB model. I have a Pro FX 4 which doesn’t.
