you could use automation lanes to get the track balance you want, and ducking as a modulation effect which is easily adjustable (manually or another automation lane), and possibly use automation lane patterns to define the effect(s) via: volume, EQ, compression settings, on-off switching delays / effects etc. really depends on what you're looking to do.
