kitekrazy
Hopefully we don't have to do everything thru that awful Native Asshat. Hopefully individual installers will remain,

PavlovsCat
Fortunately, I haven't had any major problems with any of those three installers and I have a lot of each brand's products. I like Native Instruments, Izotope and Plugin Alliance's stuff a lot, so I'm very interested in seeing how all of this works out and if it results in even better deals on for customers of all three brands. I can't imagine getting much better deals on Plugin Alliance plugins, or on NI KOMPLETE, but I could imagine better deals on Izotope bundles. I haven't updated to the latest versions of Izotope's plugins and hopefully better deals are ahead this Black Friday. Kylotan
The iZotope installer does tell you what needs updating, but then just launches a generic installer for each product anyway, meaning you need to remember which components you installed, where you installed them, etc. Not ideal. Native Access is better at smoothly updating the software, when it works. Which isn't always - sometimes it gets confused and thinks it needs to reinstall dependencies every time I launch it. And once it just lost my Replika authorization entirely and I had to get support to send me a magic script which reset the registry for me so that a reinstall would work. In fairness the market is very competitive and I can see why they need to consolidate brands like this. No doubt they don't have many spare resources to make installers better, but concentrating all the efforts on just one is probably going to help. A little.

And once it just lost my Replika authorization entirely and I had to get support to send me a magic script which reset the registry for me so that a reinstall would work. I just went through this last week. I noticed there was an update to Replika, a plugin I'd completely forgotten I even had. But when I tried to update it, it said the installation failed because the installer couldn't delete the previous version. I verified there weren't any permissions issues and ran the installer as Admin, even went so far as to delete Replika myself to save it the trouble. I went to the FAQ which explained that a registry key needed to be deleted. Welcome to 1980, NI. This reminded me of installing UNIX applications back in the day. After all that I had to try Replika to see if it was worth the effort. It wasn't. I will say this about Native Whatever They Call it Now - I do like being able to get a list of everything NI that I've got, just as a reminder of how much $$$ I've blown on stuff that never got used. It'll be worth a chuckle if it now starts reminding me to update Trash. 3

Sweet. Now they're earning that AI logo, but in this case for "Active Incompetence." 1
