OK! I figured out how to record from my UM2 interface.   

I  see a list of FX on the right edge, but how do I apply them to  a track?

Tried dragging the FX into the track’s FX rack?

As you are asking a very basic question which people normally teach them selves using the many teachings aids that are very accessible including the documentation found in the help menu and the tutorials found here
