Midi Loop through with M-Audio 2x2 midisport module

In order to address 2 different software synths, I currently use internal Loobe1 and 1 cabled loop through in M-Audio 2x2 midisport module. This provides me with 32 independent Midi channels.

Has anyone used successfully 2 cabled loop throughs in M-Audio midisport ?

Are you trying to run your software synths standalone?

I think it would be easier to just use a plug-in host (such as a DAW, or something like Mainstage) where each instrument track/MIDI port gets 16 MIDI channels. I have a M-Audio MIDISPORT 4x4 that I used for my outboard hardware synths years ago, but it's no longer needed here since I only use software synths now.
