I'm working off of sheet music just to play around with what Cakewalk and various software synthesizers can do, but I've hit a snag. The piece is in 3/4 time, and this specific measure is filled out completely by an 8th note at the start, a quarter note, another quarter note, and another 8th note. However placing that second quarter note, regardless of context (I've even tried it in the same position on a measure in a track absent any other notes) instead results in a pair of bridged eighths. What causes this and how can I fix it? I've tried placing it by means other than staff view but it still comes out wrong.
