vocal rider you can get for $8-10 anyway so comparing to fabfilter still ok

I think the youtuber has misunderstood all the stuff  Vocal Rider actually does  - but why let facts get in the way of a youtube video ?

it's also funny at the end when he says there is no difference in the waveform....and there clearly is

also did he pay $249 for it ? - no wonder he's angry

I can recommend DynaRide2 of TBProAudio as alternative for Waves VocalRider and BassRider. DynaRide2 is much more flexibel, 'cos it allows more control over the riding process. By the way, It is also very good for vocal levelling!

I didn't closely examine the alternatives but a quick visual sweep of the list and I'd say I also have many of the alternative products listed.

As you have everything I'd say that if you keep using the waves plugins you'll be in fact choosing the alternative of the alternatives.

Sonic Anomally's TriLeveler 2 is also a pretty decent alternative to Vocal Rider and, much like the Waves version, it's made to be used on vocals.
