Rimokatolik Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Hello, I am new to Cakewalk, and I have my own app that manages MIDI and Hauptwerk and DAW (currently trying Cakewalk). I would like to be able to do custom macros/commands (not sure about proper terminology in DAW). For example, I have a number of virtual MIDI channels using loopMIDI, so I would like to use one channel dedicated from my app to Cakewalk, and in Cakewalk based on MIDI note received to do some action, like load/unload VST, or arm a track, or start recording, or ... Is there a way to do it? I was looking at CAL, but it seems to be only manually run.
Francois Greeff Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 CAL is not real time. Cakewalk can handle many VST's simultaneously and even more that one instance of a VSTi. The best is rathe split/copy that channel and assign each one to it's own VST. You van also set any parameter of a VST in Realtime by adding controllers
msmcleod Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Look at Customization->Keyboard Shortcuts in preferences. There you can bind any MIDI note or CC to a command, or get it to run a CAL script. 1 1
Rimokatolik Posted March 21, 2023 Author Posted March 21, 2023 Thank you Mark very much. I will take a look if I can achieve what I need with that.
