daryl1968 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) Hi Fabulous folk Here's a new one that my lovely other half sang. I put music to a friend's lyrics. Enjoy https://soundcloud.com/elizabeth-greenway/my-icy-heart-debz My Icy Heart Lyrics by Deborah Ellis/Music by Daryl Greenway I’m lonely in my bed tonight Wish you were here with me I want to feel you by my side Where I’m longing you to be I miss the warmth of your body The power of your touch Knowing that from head to toe I ache for you so much The minute that I saw you I knew you could take me there Your fire melted my icy heart That was in need of some repair! Many times it has been broken And you may break it too I’ll dare myself to take that risk To share the heat with you I’ve always been an icy queen That’s how I’ve always felt Now I’ve met my man of fire My icy heart will melt I cannot wait to see you again Can’t stand being on my own I’d rather melt my icy heart Than spend my nights alone. I'm lonely i my bed tonight Edited February 7, 2023 by daryl1968 2
Bapu Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Please tell the current Mrs Daryl1968 she did a great job. Ewe ent no slouch either mate. 1
Lynn Wilson Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Beautiful work of art! I like the sparseness of the arrangement which gives Elizabeth's voice to shine. The melody is lovely and haunting. Wow 1

Guest Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Very stripped back, which I like. Highest compliments on the vocals - as the singer is very exposed - there are absolutely no hiding places in that backing track. Fortunately, the talented Mrs Daryl1968 didn't seem to need any. ? Great stuff as always Andy
Hidden Symmetry Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 +1 I agree with Andy, cool track & love the mix on this; the exposed vocals & balance. - great job. 1
Makke Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Well sung beautiful song. The pleasant mood with the nice arrangement and the little orchestration. Sounds great. 1

freddy j Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Wow, what an excellent job by Mrs. Daryl on the vocals. Excellent job mixing the vocals so that they don't overwhelm the vocals but actually fit the lyrics. The instrumentation also was well done in complementing the vocals. 1
bjornpdx Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Sometimes less is more and the song certainly proves it. Elizabeth has a beautiful voice. Really stands out in the song. I recognized a couple of Daryl's trademark chord changes in there. Well done! -Bjorn 1 1

PhonoBrainer Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 A quality voice and hand at work. I wish it were longer! Well done! I agree with Bjorn's comment about your chords having a recognizable signature of sorts. That was a pleasure. cheers, -Tom 1
Wookiee Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Beautiful lyric, nicely sung, understated accompaniment. 1
