Video thumbnails are hidden (solved)..but a question

EDIT: I just discovered that I had to click in the actual Thumbnail Strip and "Show/Hide Thumbnails"

 

But is it normal that Thumbnails are hidden by default?

Original question....

If I open a new project, then use File/Import/Video then import the required video, the Video View shows the video, but the Thumbnail Pane has written in it "Video Thumbnails are currently hidden".

 

Thumbs are very useful when putting music to Video, I find. What is happening here and how do I fix it, please?
