I just noticed yesterday and updated. The new panel tab is indeed  handy. No issues so far. No issues with the synth content I had.

My mouse finger was used to double clicking the Edit tab button.  I will have to do some re-training since it is no longer a toggle. 

Also, it looks like they are competing with Cherry Audio (and maybe others):

Thanks for the video link. I am impressed--you found a video that Google doesn't even know about!!!

BTW: I am too old to learn new tricks.  I reverted to 2.0.4 so I can continue to use the edit/panel toggle.  This will remind me not to buy Synth-X because I really don't need it! Its part of my Black Friday Sales strategy to save money for an SSD.

Footnote:  It seems to me that with the new advanced Sample Tank libraries (and new features / techniques as described in Erik Norlander's video for the new libraries) maybe there will be a software update to Sample Tank.  Product Manger didn't say there was an update, but based on a review of past releases, it seems the new libraries would require an update--maybe. 

Update: It looks like the new advanced sound libraries and techniques used did not require a software update to Sample Tank.

I got excited for about 3 seconds with the ST squared deal. But the freebies list is just a re-hash of existing titles that many folks may already own, with none of the new titles listed.

I would probably choose the Cherry Audio emulated version of the Synthex over the IK sampled version...

But I have enough synths already, so anything new goes on the back burner wish list for now. Trying to save money... ?

hmmm, I'll have me those Bionic Drums for starters, I can use some of those toms at least right now, but there is nothing in the freebies, I have them all, but that's neither here nor there.  Then I guess I'll have to go through the rest of that new stuff as time permits and see what gives.

The Mojo Synthesis bundle and Syntronik Synth X will be coming home with me as well, there is some stuff in the Mojo bundle that by the sounds and feel of it will fit right in with the haunting deathly feel of this thing I'm doing with Positive Grids OMNYSS. 

For anyone interested, Positive Grids OMNYSS contrary to what they say, isn't just a metal mash, it can be if you want, but it does sound awesome out of its comfort zone .
