Zolton
Looks like the original Reaktor ensemble is still available, for five bucks:https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/hexcel/ Interesting that the URL in Brian's post above specifies just "hexcel", but the equivalent URL for the VST/AU version under software/ is hexcel-2: https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/hexcel-2/ The new one's definitely prettier, though they don't otherwise seem to be calling it "version 2", so I wonder if there are any functional differences. Sander Verstraten
Is this a reworked version of a Reaktor Synth? That's the only thing that comes up when I searched for videos on the VST

There was a short blurb about it (the original Reaktor ensemble) on NI's site a while back: https://blog.native-instruments.com/create-unconventional-melodies-and-harmonies-with-hexcel-for-reaktor/

Hmm... I'm looking at the websites side-by-side. The interfaces look the same to me. I'm guessing they're the same. Brian Lawler
Interesting concept. I had not seen the Reaktor version before. After playing with the demo for a bit, I think it really needs about an eight slot pattern memory per patch. It is rather fun and easy to cook up variations once you have something you like, but saving and recalling them with file explorer is a pain. Bad Penguin
May have missed it somewhere in the description, but does the vst allow the pattern to be saved to a midi file?

No. Another shortcoming. No MIDI save or drag/drop. You need to record the output.

Thanks for mentioning this. I wonder if Melda's MTuner would be a good tool to use with Hexcel to generate MIDI (real time audio to MIDI) perhaps using a very stable (pitch-wise) waveform. Hexcel already produces MIDI which can be recorded by any DAW. Hexcel does not produce any audio. Its MIDI output is meant to be routed to another synth.
