Is there a SDK for programming CakeWalk only specific plugins?

Question

I know there's a VST 3, but instead of making an agreement with Steinberg, it might be better to write plugins just for CakeWalk.

I found an out dated SDK for CakeWalk based on Microsoft, but with all the advancements made to CakeWalk, I would think there would be a better SDK.

Think of it this way... If we can create some really neat plugins only for CakeWalk using the SDK, it will be more native to CakeWalk, less crashing of plugins, and more features that can be added without bugging the developers so much.  The developers of CakeWalk can then focus on bug fixing while there plug-in developers can focus on creating new features, new plugins better than VST3, etc.  It will bring new people to CakeWalk!

So, if there's not a SDK that can do this, I'll make it a feature request.

Per page 693 of the Cakewalk Reference Manual:

Quote

The following plug-in types are supported:
DirectX and VST audio effects.
MFX MIDI effects
DXi and VSTi instruments
ReWire devices

None of these plug-in types are specific to Cakewalk by Bandlab.

In most cases there is not a lot to be gained by a DAW developer creating a proprietary plug-in standard.  Those that do typically contract out plug-in development so the in-house team can concentrate on the DAW.

See

But note that Cakewalk has not even published ProChannel API.There was time of Constrol Surface API and CAL, at that time Cakewalk has tried to be relatively open. But that was decades ago..
