bitflipper Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I pulled this up expecting advice such as "buy a $10,000 microphone and record in an acoustically-tuned room with Malaysian teak vaulted ceilings". There's some of that in the tutorial, but the techniques and reasons for using them make sense for anyone trying to capture a natural sound from an acoustic instrument, even if it's a generic acoustic guitar in the bedroom and all you have is an SM-58. Although he does make a good case for investing in a ribbon. I also learned a few things about banjos. 1
Glenn Stanton Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 of course it helps if you're a recording/mixing/producing genius like Steve...
Bapu Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 The only acoustic instrument I ever record here is drums (and vocal if you want to my vocal an instrument). Soon I am going to be recording my bass rig, which I've never done here.

RBH Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Best demonstration of BS free recording techniques I've seen in a long time. The final composition is brilliant.
Jesse Screed Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Thanks Bit, I appreciate this very much.
