Duncan Gardiner
I have a midi track linked to an instrument track. All works fine. And saved! After restart the instrument track has changed to a blank midi track, so the original midi no longer outputs to anything.
0 Duncan Gardiner
I found the answer: The project had been opened as a MIDI project not a Normal Cakewalk project. This makes sense now I know but why did it let me create instrument tracks and save them? This was a couple of hours of work. A warning would have been useful. 0 Will.
Did you save the file accordingly? Prehaps you did not save it as a CWP file?
0 User 905133
I just duplicated this as follows: Open a midi file. Insert a soft synth. Point the midi file to the soft synth Save using Save, not Save As which allows users to change the file format. The presumption seems to be that users will know to change the file format, but new Cakewalk users might not realize that. Perhaps you want to put that in as a feature request--a warning that if a project has a soft synth that will be lost with the suggestion to use Save As to change to a Cakewalk file.
