brad
Hope someone can help. I had to uninstall Windows 11. And of course, everything else. I'm in the midst of re- installing programs and Cakewalk is a a little problematic. First off, It will not allow me to change the drive where my vsts are and the letter drive it shows is F. F no longer exists. It's now I. The folder choice is already made as F, without the ability to change it. Clicking browse does nothing. Browse is greyed out. Suggestions? Also, It won't recognize my audio interface. A Volt276. Its seems to want to force me to use the Realtek HD piece of junk that was on the computer when I bought it. This re-install of "EVERTHING" is a nightmare. This will take me weeks before all my synths, effects, and other programs are all re-installed. Lord Tim
The VST directory thing usually only happens when you've had a previous install of Cakewalk on your system and it detects where you originally set the VST path. A Clean Installation will solve that problem, but we should get a bit of information from you first so we know that it's not some other issue that'll come back to bite you later. How exactly did you do the reinstall? Was it a wiped hard drive and a fresh install of Windows? And when you installed Cakewalk, did you start from scratch or did you try to copy over any saved system/program files? If everything is completely fresh, and Windows has had all of its updates before attempting a fresh install of Cakewalk, you shouldn't be seeing any of these issues. The fact that it's looking for a previous installation and UNC paths and all of that is telling me something was skipped along the way. Like I said, a CLEAN INSTALLATION may actually fix all of these problems at once, but if you've tried to take shortcuts (which I understand, this process sucks!) then all bets are off, unfortunately.
