I have to say the two tracks sounded different, but they both sounded great.  Given software like this, and things like IK's new Tone-Ex, it looks like we're on the cusp of some amazing advances in emulations.  It's a good time to be recording!

Right from the start I LOVED clip 1. Clip 2 in comparison sounded meh to me (but not meh on itself I guess).

Guitar sounded amazing and when the vocals started, 2 or 3 lines in I could hear a 3D ness, that's all I needed to hear.

Whether that's the best clip or not, I mean, best mike or not, that's a different story.

For me clip 2 seemed to have a better transient response and had more depth.

Clip 2 has a more open top end and depth I'd expect with the 87.

Clip 1 while impressive feels a bit more like a 57 with very impressive processing added to it to me.

No golden ears here but I preferred the sound of Clip 1.

I'm going to guess Clip #1 was the condenser. Vocals sounded good in both, but in #1 the guitar had more clarity and definition to me.

I was so right! Glad the difference was crystal clear to me.  (Helps to have an ADI-2  FS Dac and 820 HD headphones? Idk ?)
