The way I would do this is I find a vsti synth that has a MIDI thru function (at $AU599, I would expect KonTakt to be able to do this) - enable its MIDI out. 

Then use this as the source for any MIDI tracks or Simple Instrument Tracks (SITs).  Where you select this is at the same place where you set which MIDI controller to use for a given MIDI track or Simple Instrument Track.

Remember that for any of these MIDI tracks, you have to enable Input Echo (You could also group these).

It would be nice if the devs added MIDI sends in the same way we have sends on audio tracks.

If it's live, just set the input filter on both tracks to the same MIDI source (MIDI channel filtering available if necessary) and enable input monitoring on both tracks.
