Newbie with a 'how do i'.

I have a song backing track, keys only, but no click.

I think I have sorted the click but having major problems trying to pan click and track.

I need track R and click L. When I try panning the 'metronome' L, it all goes left and vice versa. How can you separate so I can get click L and track R?

Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you could just create 2 tracks - one with the keys, and one with the click. make the tracks mono - then you can pan one left and one right. export as stereo.

I would do this:

Set up 2 busses: Master and Metronome. Set your Master bus output to your soundcard outs.

Pan your audio track to the right and set its output to the Master bus.

Pan the Metronome bus to the left and send its output to the Master bus.

Then go into your metronome settings and make sure the metronome output is going to the Metronome bus.

That'll get you what you want.

If you actually want to bounce this down to an exported mix with the backing track and metronome in it, there's an extra few steps involved because Cakewalk won't export the live metronome sound, but if you're just playing this live from Cakewalk, this will be all you need.
