Record Acoustic Guitar with Pickup

I recently got a DiMarzio Black Angel pickup and put it in my acoustic guitar. The problem I'm having is I can record but I can't hear my guitar through headphone or the monitors until I play my track back? Also, my Focusrite Scarlett doesn't seem to pick the signal up because the gain knob doesn't light up green or red. On my track, I have Input 2 selected because that's the instrument input. Am I missing something simple here? Any help would be appreciated.

I think I figured it out. The Dimarzio Black Angel is a passive pickup so I'm assuming since there isn't a preamp that the Focusrite doesn't allow me to adjust the gain. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Push in the "inst." button and turn up the input gain on the interface until you get a good signal.
