Jammer Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Hi, I'm wondering if there is any form of exposed API that can used by external 3rd party applications to integrate with Sonar? I know there used to be a control surface SDK but it's not been touched for years and I don't think it offered the control we're looking for. Or is there any way of installing an extension to allow an external app to add audio files into the timeline and Tracks? TIA.
reginaldStjohn Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Not that I know of. The interfaces I know of into a Daw like Cakewalk are the following: - Cal scripts - used to mostly modify midi data - Midi Control - Continuous controllers etc. - ARA - The interface Melodyne and other use to get access to the audio directly while not streaming. - VST/i - Plug-ins, API to access streaming audio/midi and create audio/midi output.
Jammer Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 Yeah this is what I remember. It's been a good 12 years since I used Sonar on a regular basis but I didn't remember there being any APIs. Shame.
azslow3 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Control surface API still works and even supported... But it never had a possibility to work with content. You probably know which DAW supports such staff ?
Jammer Posted July 18, 2022 Author Posted July 18, 2022 I had a good look over the control surface thing and it doesn't look like it's offered.
