Opening step-sequencer resets number of beats

I've got a drum track I've started creating in triplet feel, so am running 12 subdivisions

I've reopened my project, and now when I click on the stepsequencer icon (at the top right of the groove clip) it resets to 4 subdivs, resetting my feel entirely, and when I go back to 12, they don't revert to the original rhythm either.

Am I doing something wrong? I also tried to right click > view on the clip, but SS is greyed out there

Any help super appreciated, feel rather lost and frustrated!!
