PavlovsCat
I really like this little synth. I'm a preset user and realize those of you who know how to tweak synths have completely different (higher) standards than me, but I think this is a great little freebie. It's nowhere even approaching something like Vital, but it still has some really nice patches it makes and comes up with randomly and it's free, so I would consider it a no-brainer. Just download it and try it out, friends. Edited April 29, 2022 by PavlovsCat
Magic Russ
I tried it briefly and thought it was a little noisy on the low end. But it does create some decent random sounds and the patches are good. If you come up with something you like you could try to rewrite into other synths. Craig N
I misread it as "degenerative synth sound module" and wondered what kind of filthy sounds this thing could make...
abacab
The free Tone2 NanoHost has a random patch generator built-in to the menu, that can randomize any hosted VST2 synth's preset. Results can vary and are experimental (may crash), but I have found that it works fairly well with the free OB-Xd from DiscoDSP. https://www.tone2.net/nanohost.html https://www.discodsp.com/obxd/ OB-Xd Desktop is free for non-commercial use. Buying a license removes this restriction. $49. Here's a few other synths that have built-in randomization, but not free: Tone2 Warlock. My favorite! Very cool random generator! $69 https://www.tone2.net/warlock.html AIR Loom II. Another favorite! Sometimes for sale at a deep discount. It was $4.99 at JRRshop a couple of years ago... AIR Vacuum Pro. NI Absynth 5. Included in NI Komplete. A little out of my comfort zone, but makes some very interesting sounds. NI Massive (original). Included in NI Komplete. Magic Russ
Crystal, which is free, has something called patch breeding where you can have it randomly combine elements based off two different patches.

I initially though it was named after Ayn Rand, which, as a guy who actually enjoyed ideology and philosophy classes in college (unlike everyone else I knew) was a bit of a turn off.
