Hello,


Ample Sound has updated Electric Bass and Acoustic Bass to v3.5 with native M1 support,
Native accessibility, and Guitar Pro 7 tab reader.

New Features:

-Native support for Mac M1 machines.
-Native accessibility support on both Windows and Mac.
-Tab Reader supports Guitar pro 7 format.
-Improved sample engine, memory management, and efficiency.
-New VST3 parameter system.
-Updated AAX format version.
-Added support for multiple sample rate.
-Improved DSP algorithms such as impulse response.
-New modulation module.

-New standalone – Rectangles.
-Riffer now supports 64 measures at max, with navigation markers.
-Added Sync feature in Delay.


Issue Fixed:

-Fixed a few samples in the ABJ library, the ABJ users need to reinstall new ABJ sample library.
-Fixed a potential problem related to the DAW clock.
-Fixed a potential problem in the process of loading sample library.
-Fixed an issue of the velocity sense parameter.
-Fixed potential crash caused by a bug in main panel and Strummer UI.

How would you (or anyone else reading) compare this to that ujam upright that was on flash sale for something like $39 a while ago? Do you know if the Ample upright can be tuned down to, say, Eb? I've got Orange Tree Bass Pear, and the Ujam Upright, both of which I haven't seen able to use yet as I don't have access to my studio right now, but do I still need this Ample Upright? And how bad do I need it?

I don't have the Orange Tree Pear to compare it to. But I have a couple of other Orange Tree guitars, that sound great! Orange Tree is excellent for sample quality and sound!

The Ample Bass Upright (ABU) tuning pegs will let you tune down up to -2 semitones. Tuning is fully compatible with strummer, tab and all articulations. Also has capo support. I think that the Orange Tree workflow might be more intuitive for those well into the Kontakt ecosystem. But Ample does offer some unique tools, free of the NI constraints! :)

I have some of those OrangeTreeSamples libs but prefer AmpleSound for sound and playability.

It just goes to show how hard it is for US to tell YOU what would be best.

Frankly, I have not compared bass libs for those two, but each time I compare guitars, there's always something wrong with OT (for example, the open D string on their 12-string has a funny buzz) while AmpleSound's is much easier to find acceptable. I don't remember details, but I found issues with OT's classical guitar as well. I've gotten to the point where I just start with AmpleSound and let OT lie there taking up space. BUT, you may find things differently! By all means I suggest trying the demo as recommended above.

I have both OTS Pear and the Ample ABU. I'd use the ABU almost exclusively these days, but to be fair it's a much newer library than Pear, and costs more.

Pear is cool but has a lot of the room baked in. Pear is prolly easier to use, ABU needs a bit more user programming of articulations but sounds better.

Riffer is a pretty unique feature in the Amplesound instruments. The factory riffs are great but if you want to create your own however you need to really understand how a bass is played, string selection, articulations etc. There is a lot of potential but.... Often I will just play the bass via MIDI for convenience and live with the lack of realsm.

In addition to the Ample Riffer, the Tab Player is cool. I've only played around with the factory tabs, and they sound very good on playback. The guitar/bass tab file import feature looks interesting.

It will import tabs in Guitar Pro format, *.gp3, *.gp4, *.gp5, & *.gpx.
