Clint Swank
Been using automation on busses, when for no apparent reason (other than that I inadvertently did something stupid) a red diagonal line appeared and I can't. well, write. Did a fair amount of reading in the manual and found no reference to this. Suggestions?
Andres Medina
Can you post a pic of the line? The diagonal direction seems to be a drawing in the automation line, but, who knows...
Clint Swank
Kinda hard to see, but I know nothing about image manipulation. Look real hard at roughly the middle of the control bar.
Starship Krupa
Are you referring to the "W" button in the Mix Module? That's for Write automation. It should toggle your ability to write automation if you press it. If you want to know more, look up the Mix Module and Automation in the documentation or Reference Guide. Clint Swank
Yeah, that's it. I've been using it regularly, until the "banned" red line appeared and it's now "banned", I guess. I'd really like if somebody could, y'know, help? Edited April 26, 2022 by Clint Swank
Andres Medina
The crossed button toggles between "automation write" enabled/disabled on all tracks. It means that if you want to write automation in real time as you play your song, the envelopes are written as you move the controls, as lomg as your W in the track bus is enabled. See pics and video. Video 1.mp4
Tim Elmore
The "W" button in the control bar is not actually a toggle button. It doesn't have a mode to keep me from turning on write enables for various tracks. I can do that at any time. This all makes better sense if I consider the button in the control bar as simply a reset button that cancels all write enables that are currently turned on. It is a shortcut to let me cancel all write enables with one click instead of having to click the "W" button in each track individually.

Yes, you are right- no toggle, it just cancel all write enables. My mistake.
Clint Swank
I seem to have been well informed. Everything worked as described above. Except for one thing. The volume doesn't decrease. I bounced the track, repeated the steps on the audio track, got the envelope, volume doesn't change. ????
John Vere
The R is the read enabled toggle. As said 2 minutes in this part of the documentation would easily explain how it works.

Really, faster than asking here and then waiting for a response.
