Dabotto
I have a project open using a .mid file. All tracks in the project are midi tracks playing GM instruments. I have inserted a VST3 soft synth on a new track and copied another tracks clip to it. My problem is, once I save my project and close Cakewalk, the added VST3 track is now missing from the project. What am I doing wrong. Thanks. Edited April 11, 2022 by Dabotto
Byron Dickens
You are saving it as a MIDI file instead of as a Cakewalk project.
abacab
^^^ what he said. MIDI .mid files cannot contain proprietary Cakewalk project specific info, instrument track, and/or audio tracks, etc. That's what Cakewalk .cwp files are for. They contain all of the MIDI data, plus all of the additional project settings. When you save or export as .mid, you are only going to get the MIDI data. The rest gets stripped out. Not a Cakewalk shortcoming, that just how MIDI works. Tip: the first thing you should do after opening a MIDI file in Cakewalk, is to immediately save it as a Cakewalk .cwp file. Then all your work is saved whenever you hit the file save button. Edited April 11, 2022 by abacab
