Jeremy Oakes
Hi, i have a project which is a mixture of audio tracks and midi (4x Dim Pro, 1x Rap Session). At the beginning the volume of all tracks is “normal”. However, after a few stops and starts, for some reason the volume of the midi tracks suddenly decreases dramatically. Prolly user error by why ? Any ideas ? the midi meters show activity, as do the audio outputs, but the audio drops down in volume after 2 or 3 plays. CbB is up to date, W10 also (1903), plus all drivers. No effects /VST’s on any track. any ideas ? J
Matthew Sorrels
I bet you have Zero Controllers When Play Stops enabled in the project. The zeroing often sets synth controls to 0 killing volume (by setting filters to 0hz, etc). It's a per-project setting and is most likely wrong in all your templates too, so you either have to edit every template or remember to turn it off when starting a new project. There are lots of threads on this endless topic. Fixing your project now involves figuring out what synth parameter went to zero and restoring it. Sometimes you can just reload a preset to get the correct setting back. Then with the zero controllers option off you should be ok.
Jeremy Oakes
I don’t use templates. Also I have never heard of this problem. However what you suggested did not work. As i said, i have nothing loaded on the midi tracks. Any other solutions ? J
John Vere
First open the event list and look for any CC events. Volume is 7 but there are others that can also change level. You can also look in PVR and make sure your velocities are all where they belong as well as open the lower event pane and select CC7. . Then open the GUI for the VST and look at the volume/ level controls. If there are hidden events that change them you will see the knobs or sliders move when the song plays. Example turn up the GUI level and start the song. IF it jumps back to where it was there is a controller hidden somewhere. Also open the automation lane for the VST instrument track and look there. Jeremy Oakes
@CactusMusic : many thanks, that did the trick, several "hidden" events. I'm not used to in depth midi work. All seems to be working now. J
