Allen & Heath Qu16 MIDI DAW control surface

I have a A&H Qu16 and am trying to get the desk and Cakewalk to talk to each other. I have followed the setup instructions for both ends (QU16 and Cakewalk) for MIDI control but can't get a signal coming in form the desk into the DAW.

I have the 4 MIDI ports coming up in the preferences and selected 1 and 2 for the 16 midi channels coming through. I am using a A&H driver which is configurated to be using MIDI port 2 for DAW control on a Mackie protocol.

It appears to me that I have done all that there is to do form the instructions but I still get no signal.

I am at the end of my wits!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, what am I missing?

Have you tried checking "Disable Handshake" in the Mackie Control Surface dialog within Cakewalk?

You can get to this dialog from the Utilities menu.

To be clear, you are taking Midi signal not audio signal, right ?
